This is particularly so when the debt is substantial, or little progress has been made at reducing it.

This 2 page pdf file shows the way that Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter approach this in their book, "Rich Dad's Guide to Investing". It takes a little discipline, but I have seen many occassions when this method has been used to clear debt with remarkable speed.
